Submission Guidelines
If you would like to have your artwork featured on Bipolar Village, please e-mail me at daniel.bader(at)baderservices.com. Please add the following:
- A short biography of about 100-150 words to put with your work.
- Titles for each work, if they exist. If they do not, I will simply title them “Untitled”.
- Whether you would like me to publish them under your full name, your first name, or a pseudonym.
- A link to your own website, if you have one. Please note that I will only link to either sites that are about your artwork or sites that are relevant to Bipolar Today.
I use Facebook to integrate visual artwork into both the website and the Facebook page. Please pick one piece to use for promoting your gallery on the site. I will then link back to all of your artwork on the website.
If you are submitting poetry, please choose one poem to feature on the Facebook page. This will then link back to all of your submitted poetry on the website.
If you are submitting short stories, please provide a hundredish-word excerpt that will be posted on the Facebook page and which will link back to your story here.
Content
My content guidelines are basically those of Facebook. One additional thing is that my web host does not allow swearing. You are free to swear, but I will need to use asterisks to “bleep” out some letters in the words.
Please be very cautious when discussing suicide or self-harm, and please do not include medical advice. Depictions of suicide or self-harm will not be included.
For written pieces, you are free to add your own pictures to go with the work, so long as they do not violate copyright. The web is a very visual medium, so I may suggest adding some photos that I can provide, if there is no objection.
In some cases, I may require changes before posting. I will never change your work unilaterally with the exception of formatting, spelling, punctuation, minor grammatical changes and the resizing of images.
I will not edit your poetry, as I assume that all of your grammar and spelling is there on purpose, no matter how unconventional, so please double check before submitting :).
Copyright
You continue to hold the copyright on your submitted works. That means that if you wish to remove them from the site, you are free to do so at any time for any reason.
If you would like your artwork posted only on Facebook or only on the website, please let me know. If you’d like it only on Facebook, I will simply share it there. If you’d like it only here, I will simply post a link from Facebook to your work, but not share any of your work on Facebook, except a thumbnail for the link. The exception is short stories. I can’t post these only on Facebook, but I can post a link on Facebook without an excerpt if you wish.
Please note that I cannot accept work that violates copyright. This includes but is not limited to song covers, mix tapes of other people’s music, images of copyrighted works, or collages that include copyrighted material.
